XP Cmd interpreter....
Can someone tell me why these statements will not work:
"set writeit=y" (where it applies in pgm)
----------------------------------------------------
if not %writeit%==y GOTO end
copy %4\N_s_pj%3+%2\%3.* %4\N_s_pj%3 /y
:end"

I'm getting a "y" value ok, but when it hits the specfic "if not %writeit%==y GOTO end" command, it quits the interpreter. Any ideas? Thanks.

I ran a test with a pause and echo before and after the "if" test and only got the literal %writeit% before, and it blew off and never reached the after test. The %writeit% variable was just a label test declared in this pgm. I never receive an error and it just aborts and goes away, so I don't know what the interpreter is trying to tell me. It's supposed to bump thru this code 9 times before is exits, but it never gets past the first occurence.

Someone else tried this test and got "goto unexpected error..." and it will aborted the script at this point (no echos at all), but when I run it it quits...no error message. Interesting, huh?
