I have apache running on Debian and the problem I am having is that if I don't specify the / at the end of a subdir it will not pull up the index.php file for that dreictory.

Ex:
http://url.com/main_site/ - works
http://url.com/main_site - does not work

Anyone know of what I am missing?

Add this to your htaccess.
Redirect permanent /main_site http://url.com/main_site/index.php

That is cool, but it does it throughout the entire site so I am hoping for a fix all solution. I think there should be some setting, but just can't find it.
