Question DLL General Questions
Hello,
I know that DLL's are libraries used for soring routines, much like the old Quick Libraries used in QuickBasic.

How are they created???

Can they be created in Visual Basic?? If so, what version??

Thanks,

Bear

ok
yup u know it right. dlls are used for storing repetative routines.

and the good news is that DLLs can be created in Visual Basic 5, 6 , .net.

but the bad news is that those DLLs are not the real DLLs.

They are actually ActiveX DLLs.

They require "Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime Library" to run the stored procedures are are inaccessible to c/c++ developers.

For creating Standard, Independent DLLs you need to program them in C++.

Thanks for your reply....this is kind of a dumb question, but would the DLL's created in C++ have to be writen in C++ or would the VB coding work???........Would the activex DLL's still work like a normal DLL does, if writen using the activex DLL creator???

well activeX won't work like standard DLLs as they require "Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime Library".

Well you could write standard DLLs in Visual C++ Editor also.
