I am trying to set up something for my office... I work in health care and we send a lot of alphanumeric pages to our nurses in the field. We use the SBC web site to send our messages http://paging.acswireless.com/web_sendmsg.html I would like to know if I could put a tag at the end that would automatically fill the "To:" field with the pager number (i.e. 8885555555). This way I can make short cuts with each nurses name and put them in a folder on my desktop. Anyone have any ideas? All help would be appreciated!

The name of the input form for the To: is "email", so what you are looking for is something like this.

http://paging.acswireless.com/web_sendmsg.html?email=THENUMBER

The tag, you are talking about is a "query string".

The site doesn't use any serverside scripting, so they would have to use javascript.

Looking at their code, they don't use any javascript to do what you want.

So you have 2 options.

Get them to add the javascript to accept the query string your want and change the value of the TO: input or make your own webpage with the form in it and create your own links that change the to value.

Then you should be able to load the page with the form, from your hard drive and submit.

You shouldn't have any problem submitting remotely since I don't think they have any kind of checks for that.

All you can do is try it and let us know.

Try that form and see if it actually sends a message to someone. "Don't worry about the page being blank after you submit.

Again, this might not work, but it should still give you an idea of what you can do.

I think it will work though.

Just view source of the page to see I did it.

You should be able to create as many links as you need.

Thanks a lot Shadow, I don't know anything about Javascript, but I will play around with it and see if I can put up a web page for my office!!! I really do apreciate all the help!!!

I set up the javascript so when you look at it, you should be able to see how the pattern goes and follow the pattern to make more links.

If you need a step-by-step explanation, I'm sure we can post it.
