Hi,

I have a php file that has the following piece of code:

$file = "/data/src/Status/a";
$ret = @chmod($file, 0775);

$ret = @unlink($file);

?>
---

When i run the code from the command line the file ("a") gets deleted. But when i invoke the script using a browser the file is not getting deleted.

What might be the possible reason?

Maybe your server doesn't support short tags, try using <?php instead of <?.

Remove the @s from your functions, I bet its having errors that are being hidden.

Try adding a slash at the end of the path.

normally when you run a command that is on the server and not a native php function you need to enlcose the function in ` `

Permissions, does the user account the webserver is running as have permission to delete that file.

More than likely, it does not.

Check the permissions on the file and make sure the webservers user account has permission to delete the file
