Welcome to TSG!!!

If this is a database application, you can create a user table with the names of the people that have the right to use your application and a security level (1 = read only; 2 = read/write; 3 = administrator, etc.) Then prompt the user for a login name and password. Code your program to store the user's security privilege once they've logged in and set the user interface properties to read only permission.

Well, user name and password is the right option. But what do you exactly mean by multi-user? It can mean two things.

1. It is installed on one machine and different users use it at different times with their usernames and passwords.

2. It will be installed on a LAN and multiple users may be accessing it at the same time.

What is your requirement?

BTW, I must also mention that answer to your question has been the subject for many entire books!! So it would be quite difficult to pin-point exact answers. But we can try. There are many members here who would be able to guide you.
