Connecting to the yahoo finance site
Hi there!

I hope i am in the correct forum for posting this question.

Basically, i have been given the task of obtaining financial data from a website such as yahoo finance and creating a basic share portfolio. (I am using ASP/vbScript)

I am a beginner to ASP and don't really know where i should start in terms of connecting and obtaining info from an online website. Does anyone have any advice they could give me. Anything at all is welcome!

Many thanks in advance.

Do a google search on screen scraping and parsing XML/RSS feeds. Here's a great site that lists tons of feeds.

Thanks for that.

I have now read various pieces of literature about screen scraping. I have come to the conclusion that I need to use a component - ie MS xmlHTTP OR aspTear (i mention these two as they are both free) in order to use info from another site. Is this correct?

Do you happen to know anything else about this topic? I am absolutely in the dark and reading around the subject just seems to create more confusion.

Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated!
Many Thanks!
