Strange Happenings
Hello all something very strange happened to me last night. I came back from work at about 11:30 at night. I went to bed at about 12:00 midnight, at around 12:30 my pc just turned itself on. I have had this computer for 2 years and nothing like this has ever happened, infact i have tried to make it happed again i changed the clock back to see if the time would affect it, i have tried to mess about with the button to see if anything is wrong. Nothing seems to answer the question. The only other possibility i can think of is and i hate to say it a ghost. Some strange happenings have been going on in my house and now its in my room. Tell me guys there is an explanation other that a ghost PLEASE.

Thank you

Is it networked? You might have wake on lan enabled and something triggered it to start.

Are you sure it is off and not in suspend or hibernate mode? It may appear to be off but if APM is on in the BIOS you may just have it in one of those two modes.

Well i think i figured it out, i had run scheduler task the day before and when i checked the settings i should that "Wake computer to complete this task" was enabled and also the time was the same as the time it happened. Oh well it was scary while it lasted.

Is there a way i can program such an event in vb, to start up my computer at a certain time?

Thank you

No, if the power is off there is no power, no processing no nothing. It would have to be a mechanical timer that pushed the power switch
