Well it depends. Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the "built in" language, you are only able to write macros.

Also, if you are going to learn a programming language (VB for example), I suggest you learning .NET and not 6.0.

My PC is that:

WinXP SP1 Version 5.1 Build 2600.010817-1148•ok
512MB DDR RAM• just 196 SDRAM
111GB HD•Just 20GB
2.52GHz P4•Just PII celeron
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX420 64MB•Just smaller one
...and a dialup connection• Just on desk without connection

Dear my Junior the Helper:
I thank you so much anyway!
Have a good time!

VB.net is the latest version of VB...

and to answer Nok, Office, specifically Access, is a great place to get your feet wet with VB code. By opening the Visual Basic Editor (yes, though Tools>Macros), you can use VB to manipulate your data and your tables/forms/queries/reports.

If you have MS Office, start there learning VB. When you start to feel comfortable with it, then invest in buying the full blown VB.

Just my opinion,

MBN

Sigh. Yes. Good place to start. Once again i recomend .Net because its what most of the companies use now and well if you learn something its best if its new. Also, once you get a hang of vb6, its sort of hard to make the transfer to the .NET platform.

Also, nnh, is there anything specific that you would like to learn to do?
