The 13 year old programmer
Hello, I plan on taking a lot of computer science classes in my future and i need help or rather a guide to help me learn the basic languages of Java i did a search on google and i jsut cant seem to find a java program that helps me design or make an engine etc. also i need to learn the language so if ne experianced ppl out there who really know Java well pls send me some links or give me some help it would be greatly appreciated. And if there is an easier language (like Javascript) that would be appreciated to although not needed.

I'm not an expert at this, but a good place to start is Python. Try to search for some python tutorials on google and then those will usually lead you to the compilers that you will need.

I don't know about the engine part, but there are plenty of resources out there for java.

If you want to learn basics of object-oriented design and java, look at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/index.html. The "Learning the Java Language" will help you get started. The link also has instructions on how to install the development kit.

I program in Java for a living, feel free to ask questions.

Start with Python. www.python.org It is the perfect language for beginners. Then if u have mastered python then try java or visual basic. Your best bet is to go to the book store and get a Java for dummies book or something.
