Hidden Hit Counters/Trackers
Does anyone know how to check "real" traffic numbers on a website,(amount of visitors) if they don't have a hit counter?

This would help us when choosing a site to advertise. I know people do alot of bragging about their traffic, but how do we find out if it's true?

Thanks.

I'd look here, I don't know for sure this is what you are looking for. If you are running ads I would look into embedding a hit counter and a referrer into the ad script.

Yeah, I thought so. That's too bad.
That's what I thought but I hoped there was a way. What about a website(s) that display most visited sites, besides the mainstream pop sites?

I realize that to advertise or network with these popular sites they want an outragous amount of money, so I'm looking for targeted "subsites" that have traffic but have networking options.

David: Are you looking for YOUR web stats? Or someone else's? Maybe I didn't understand the question.

Did you try the link I gave you?

Traffic info comes from server logs...and you can't view someone else's server logs.
If you are going to advertise with them, they should provide you with their traffic info from AWStats, Urchin, etc. You can't just lookup their personal traffic data.
