Exclamation Web Domains And Hosting
Hello,
I'm experiencing probloms with "web domains & Web hosting".
Of what I understand web hosting is a directery for an example .tk but alot more well known, Web hosting to my understandings is a program which uploads files from your computer into the web.

I'm wanting to make a site, The site is planned out but has not yet been created.
I have the software to create the site (Frontpage), I have one problom, I want to know if I need web hosting to create a site or would it be possible to just buy a domain name..
Thank you for reading my problom hopefully you'll understand and reply,
Thanks again..

OK - you need to put your files onto a place which the internet can get access to.
usually this is often called webhosting.
so you create your files and copy then to the webhost who store them on there server.

now you need to let the world know there are there.
one of the ways is to get a domain name www.yourname.com - when its registered with the domain name registry nominet in UK - they will tag it and put the link IP Address of the server that is storing your files.

now when you type in www.yourname.com - this goes to a domainname server which looks up th eip address for this name and directs to your files.

a number of companies will also store your files and provide a generic domain name like
www.yourname.thereservername.com

i have a number of people who as part of there broadband package get webspace
ie ntl
so you have a web address of
www.ntl.com/username

they copy there files to there account and it will work volia
but if they want there domain name - they can use acouple of options
one is freeparking
this will create a domainname of your choice - say www.jumpingcastles.co.uk which forward to the genric name www.ntl.com/username
as is the case here
