disadvantage: wma files aren't playable in all media players

if you have a lot of mp3s, it will take alot of time and alot of computer power to convert all of the files.

Wma is a pretty good format and it has been pushed by MS for a long time. But it hasn't caught on because it is not that common, it uses licensing and protection technology that is probably as much of a pain for honest users as it is for people trying to steal music, it prevents you from moving much music from one machine to another, and few portable players will play them.
