pick up a VB for dummies book. It's actually not bad at all for someone just starting out.

For C++ I recommend "C++ How to Program" by Harvey M. Deitel and Paul J. Deitel ("Deitel & Deitel"), it's what I taught myself with (although I was in 13th grade at the time and already knew BASIC and Visual BASIC).

13th. Grade! My, how things have progressed. They only had 12 when I went to school. that just shows how far behind times I am.

There are tons of websites that offer free tutorials and programming examples and source code. Some of the more well known are

www.codeproject.com
www.codeguru.com
www.developerfusion.com
www.funducode.com
www.cprogramming.com
www.devcentral.com
www.mindcracker.com
www.hitmail.com

There are also free books online, if you look hard enough. One of the better books that you can download for free is Thinking in C++ from http://www.mindview.net/Books/TICPP/...ngInCPP2e.html.

You would think I would learn to slow down on my typing since I suck at it.

The last link in the list should have been www.hitmill.com.

I am not sure fi you are interested in Web programming or not, but if so I have a few books that would be of help, and a really good link.

Books:
HTML for the World Wide Web: Visual Quickstart Guide
JavaScript for the World Wide Web: Visual Quickstart Guide
(I am reading the JavaScript book right now, and both of them are very good.)

As for a link, try www.w3schools.com . This site is full of free Web programming tutorials. It is really good, I think.

But keep in mind that these are for Web based programming languages.
