What language are file sharing programs written in?
Hi,

I was interested in developing a program that has a similar interface as the file sharing programs (For ex, the tab system that is at the top of the program). Can anyone point me in the right direction, ie what program do you think they write these in?

Thanks.

Any language can be used, as stated before. Ultimately what it comes down to is the protocol of the p2p...Emule(amule) has its own, napster did as well, bittorrents is publicized so its easy to figure out how to go about. Others might require a memory dump to figure out how they are interacting with tcp/ip etc.

Once there's a protocol, then its simply a matter of making it useable and that can be in any language you want, from python to C#

It might be easier to find an open-source program with the sort of interface you are looking for, rather than using file sharing programs as an example. I would think that would be an easier way to find what programming language is suitable for the interface you want.
