urgent! pls help..(java)
Hi, my name is Eddy and currently i going to deal with my final year project for my degree.

i have an idea in the field of software and hardware which is to create the security system that using CCTV.

The function will be:
1.webase or application
2.recording
3.image capture
4.zoom

So, all the expert, the problem now i wanted to know is
1.where should i start?
2.wat material i need to study?
3.I planing to use java to create the system,is there any other recommended one?

You need to start with the hardware. When you have identified the camera (or cameras), and how they connect to the system, you then need to understand what software you need. You will need control software (start, stop, zoom in/out, capture, move up/down/left/right), and then you will need recording PVR-like software, and monitoring software, which will allow the user to see all the outputs of the cameras on one screen.

All the above are probably available already, so you may just simply have to make them all work together. You could, of course, extend whatever's available by allowing perhaps facial recognition or something cool like that.

Use Google to find the hardware (or even EBay).

Thanks bpmurray, but i still don undersand about what software that i need to understand.

I had search for the hardware and i prefer the dome one.It come together with the DVR card which can support 4 camera.

and after that i not really understand what to do....can u guide me more specifically...10ssss!

It depends ont he specific camera system you're going to buy. Have you asked the company that sells these? For example look here: http://www.mirasys.fi/cgi-bin/iisi3....id=174&sid=170

Exactly: if the camera company doesn't have an SDK, see if their suppliers have one. If not, try a different camera. Those that have an SDK will usually have sample code, and often will have a discussion forum where you can ask questions and get peer support.
