mysql database sleeping??
I recieved this message from a fellow webmaster and thought I would see if anyone in here might be able to help. I am running the exact same scripts as she is so it is beneficial to me to get the answers as well.

"Both of my databases are "sleeping" and I can't figure out what to do. If you know how I can make mysql databases not SLEEP I would really appreciate the help."

Thanks
Jenn

"When I moved off Thane's hosting I bought a month on a dedicated server. Then I found out that I had to actually run the server myself and I had to do things I didn't know how like set database permissions and fix things on the server that didn't work. Anyway one of the things I got to see from the server was my database settings and what exactly was going on with the databases. The gptr and the downline program both scripts databases said they were sleeping."

We have both checked out these links but couldn't make heads or tails of them:

this post seems to be connected to the problem we're having
http://forums.techguy.org/web-develo...l-problem.html
we had noticed that some files were missing from the database and when we tried to add them this was what we got.

That is just running a query on your database, and it is stating that your tables are empty or the SQL statement on your page is written incorrectly. Posting the code for the lines in question would go a long way to figuring out what is going on. The "sleep" thing is more than likely just a indication that no one is querying the database. Do you even know if there is data in your tables?

in phpmyadmin all the information is showing up in the tables just fine.

BTW MySQL version 4.1.19-standard

I'm wondering if the version is not compatible with the database becasue the old server was 4.0.27-standard

I would live to post any code you want if I knew where to find this code on line 24!

I already did, all that states is that you are having trouble running a query because the filed is null or the SQL is wrong. You are connecting to the database or you would be getting an entirely different error.
