Question Multi file upload
Hi,
I'm about to make a photo album for a web page, and I want it to be possible to upload the images via administrative access on the page.

My problem is that the only uploading tutorials I've seen, let you upload one file at a time, (been looking at www.codeproject.com , www.asp.net and more) but if I have an album with many images, around 50-100, it takes to much work and time.

Does anyone know if it is possible to upload many files at a time (f.ex browsing for files and pressing shift or ctrl to select more than one, or just selecting a folder)

Im using asp.net 2.0 and c#.

thanx.

well thats not going to work, because there are going to be many users to this page, and each user can upload his/hers images, and many of them do not know how to use ftp.
And I'm aiming to make this site as easy as possible, (not to make, but to use)
So teaching ppl to use ftp is not an option.

But thanks for the reply

Hi Biffster,

You may need to use a C# API here for example.
Personally, I've never tested it as I am a C# newbie.
BTW, as a Java programmer, I use the API provided by Apache and it works nicely (it allows multiple files upload).

There's another link here where you can download an API for C#.

Thanx,

This looks promising, but I'm also rather new in c# (6 months).
But after reading about this, it looks as this is what I need... but alot of testing and reading untill I will be sure..

If anyone has other ideas, I'll be more thad glad to hear them... always good to have more than one way to solve things.

I can't think of any way to select multiple files or a folder through a form in a web page since <input type="file"> only lets you select 1. You can put multiple "files" inputs on one form and have your site accept all the files though.

Yea ... thats what I thought... I was hoping I was wrong... hoping there was a way to let the site scan some folder you select and run a loop with <input type"file"> while there are files in the folder... ... oh well I'll try the thing Chicon advised...
and thnx for all the replys.... proofs that Thechguy is the best place for problem solving...

This is quite good, but you still have to select one file each time to fill the list... would take some time with 10 files or more.... some photoalbums can have upto 50 pics... so this is not working for me ...
but tnx..
