Reboot
Hi everyone, this is my very first thread and my first post on the techguy forums, I am not entirely sure if my particular problems can be helped but here goes nothing.

The event that led me to sign up here today was the fact that I spent quite an extensive amount of time and bandwidth getting Cygwin set up on my computer with GCC and CC support. For reasons almost unknown to myself I am currently trying to set up CircleMUD 3.1 on my Windows XP machine so that I can mess around with the MUD code. Essentially I plan on chopping it completely apart and attempting to start it from scratch (as I know CircleMUD slightly and knew of no other bare bone MUD packages).

Finally I managed to get ./configure to start in the Cygwin bash, but I found every time it reached the part where it checked the ANSI header files my computer would reboot. My computer has randomly rebooted before with certain things, but I've rarely paid it much mind. If someone could shed some light as to why this is occurring, or if you need me to give you any further information please let me know, I'd like to learn what's the deal.

Secondly and lastly, my computer's taskbar disappears momentarily nearly every time I run a program. It's a real annoyance as it resets any additional toolbars (even the quicklaunch) and it also means that I can't place the taskbar on the side or at the top of the screen without it being forced back to the bottom. Any ideas on that would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys.
