Coding in Passive Authentication
Hi! I am newbie coder (no experience whatsoever) :X and have trouble editing files to function specifically.

Basically an authentication requiring a username and password to enter I use. The prompt for authentication only shows up in browsers such as firefox or explorer: Prompt in Browser. The problem is that this prompt does not show up in other apps connecting to the internet and these apps do not have the coding (ex: Coded Application Example ) to easily (for me at least xD) connect with the user I set up.

I was looking through .dll files and system information.. it says something about auto proxy config url..also "GetDefaultProxyConfiguration" and if other apps have this coded in, I assume there must be something I can edit or code in for internet settings.

I've been looking deeper into files and registry and such trying to get clue.
Under registry (Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings) it doesn't look like there is anything for me to input values for Username and Password, although the authentication prompt always appears. However, when I view certain apps that have the authentication coded in I find the the settings (username/password) within the registry.

Can I add into registry for Internet Settings some sort of key that will operate in the same way as other apps (passively entering in authentication username and password)? Is my problem deeper in that it needs more coding ><? Perhaps there is a program specifically for this I appreciate if experienced members know the way and can help ;] Thanks!

Well, it would help if you said what code your using, but by the looks it looks like there is some special coding that IE and Firefox has that your app lacks. Well, I'm guessing that you would need more coding.

im not actually creator of the apps but just referring to any app that connects to internet in general. IE and Firefox actually dont have it coded in either =(. I took screenshot of the settings for passive authentication from the program Spybot: Search and Destroy. Messengers such as MSN Live and AIM have it these coded in also: Example from AIM. The values I entered in for Spybot: Search and Destroy, AIM, and MSN are found under the registry. I was wondering if I could add keys into Internet Settings (Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings) and other programs under registry so they operate in same way and actually function. I don't know how to go about thogh

err I guess the coding needed is Hex / Strings??? dunno xD
One of the apps I was looking through contained strings for ProxyServer, ProxyUsername, ProxyPort, ProxyPasswordT, BasicAuthentication, ProxyConnection, ProxyAuthenticate... But no 'hex' or whatever the numbers are coded in. I'm not sure if it mean anything
