The question is,

How do I get a database (Access) to tell me when it has a new record?

I want to be emailed when a user has completed a form which is then sent to a database to be stored. Do i attach a cgi code to the submit button so when the user clicks two operations happen at the same time (cgi email and insert database record), or use some form of code that will make the database tell me when its got a new record? With either option, please tell me !!!

I'm using ASP/VBscript.

Personally I would include some script in the asp page that your form calls on which would trigger the email at the same time as it does the data insert. I cant quote the code off the top of my head but I seem to recall it's fairly simple.

You can use CDONTs or a mail component like ASPMail to do this. You can set it up as part of the script in the form that will take info from the form and fill it into the appropriate mail fields and send. Should probably be set at the end of your codes form validation in case something isn't filled in correctly it won't shoot off an email until the script executes correctly.
