Progress 4GL
Has anyone got a copy of Progress 4GL version 8 (character) for Windows XP not Unix?
At my age I am finding it impossible to understand "modern" GUI software development. My requirements are just for simple applications where all the pretty GUI stuff is irrelevent. I don't need server/client stuff nor do I want to develop Web stuff - just simple administration procedures. I have tried to see what MySQL and V-Basic are about but the web pages might as well be written in Chinese! So many terms used that everyone understands but which have come into use long after I retired from software development.
The Progress people can only offer V9 GUI. I spent many years in character based development and I am happy with it (old dogs and new tricks etc.)
