CGI Not Working Outside of LAN?
Hey all,

I've got a really interesting one. It boggles my mind.

I have a website, and I'm trying to use CGI to calculate something for a game. In this game you can buy salvage, minerals, and other goods known as rat loot. (EVE is the game, for those of you that are familiar) Here's what happens.

Outside of the LAN is when I first tried this. I downloaded a simple CGI script headers and whatnot. There is a test page with simple HTML that passes the CGI script some basic values in a form. I can get to the test page, but when I hit "Submit", the page times out.

I tried it locally (at server) through SSH (lynx), and it works PERFECTLY.

Today, I tried re-tackling the job, and tried it in Firefox and IE7 on my home computer (Behind the linksys WRT54G flashed with DDWRT router of the server). They work perfectly. Thinking it might be the browser at work, I had a friend that's deployed in Iraq try it, it times out. IE7 is what he's using.

This one really has me puzzled. I'll attach files I'm using.

Thanks for any help ahead of time.

I fail to see how that is relevant. Please elaborate?

To pre-emptivly answer some concerns you might have...

I know what a CGI is. My problem isn't that it doesn't work. It compiles and everything, no warnings. HOwever, once run from a sample form (included in the tgz file), it times out if the viewing computer is OUTSIDE of my LAN (which the server is on as well). Other than that, it works perfectly.

I think I partially figured this out, as to what the previous post ment... this isn't software, it's web developement (which I didn't realize had it's own section), let alone networking...

I don't know WHY I posted it here... oh well, going to repost
