Is OOP a branch to nowhere?
ZDNet blog article here.

Paul Murphy (pseudonym) continues his discussion about development languages, and asks a potentially embarrassing question: has the whole object orientation business been both a functional and a conceptual failure?

After reading his article, what do you think? {Agree, Disagree, Other Point-Of-View}

I dissagree in some part.

To say OOP as a whole is a failure i tihnk would be over generalising things. In some respects there has been no visible use for it. But in terms of some software devlopment it has been a vast improvement.

For example since switching all of my PHP web applications to a OOP scheme has enabled me to create moremodular designs capable of greater flexibility and scalability. Also i have noticed significant speed and efficiency increases over traditional code schemes.

Disagree !
When people talk about OOP, they generally think about languages like C++, C#, Ruby, Java and so on...
But in my mind, OOP is something that comes instinctively when confronted to big problems, the programming language doesn't matter at all.
