CD drive access and Roxio drivers
Regarding non-access to CD drive, thanks to DaveA and davehc, I now know that the earlier version of Roxio--Roxio Easy CD Creator 5--placed a driver in the device list, found in Device Manager, as the default, (since the other 32-bit items follow under it on the list). The problem has been to rid myself of it. After more than a dozen efforts after which I still received the error message "driver blocked due to incompatability, etc.", I found in Wikipedia the information to the effect that "Roxio installs easily, but is difficult to uninstall. Apparently, there is a six-step procedure involving a MS cleanup application.

Thanks anyway, guys. The progress is slow, but I believe I'm getting back my CD drive access . . .eventually.
