Weird problem and a question concerning AV + firewalls.
Here there guys, my problem is pretty weird and has been
happening lately.

My laptop strangly freezes, so I have to restart it. It happens when
I have no active program running (i.e. music playing, a game, downloading)
and isntead of going from my screen saver to standby/sleep, it freezes.
What happens is that the mouse stops to work, my external Hard drive
displays that it has been disconnected from my laptop. The power switch
and power indicator (showing that the computer is on and "active") lights,
and the light for the shortcuts, cpu usage and everything is on.. But, it dosn't
respond to anything that I try to do with it, from the keyboard. F2 spam, Ctrl, Alt Dlt,
etc. dosn't work. This results into me having to manually switch it off, and turn it
back on...

Now why is this happening? :S
One thing that might be affecting it is that I recently (well a month ago) got a new driver
for my laptop's nvidia card. it is the 174.93 ..

My laptop spec's are:
Windows Vista Ultimate
t7100 Duo 1.8Ghz
nVidia 8600
2gig Ram.

This is getting REALLY annoying.. Any suggestiongs? ;p

Now my question is about my Antivirus, Firewall and security software.
Should I purchase an "All-in-one" security suite, that has both firewall,
maleware, AV, spyscanner etc. or should I buy an AV program, and a
firewall program?
This should be based on their CPU/memory usage. Which, do you guys
think, will eat up more RAM? A big program with everytihng, or two seperate programs?

Thanks a bunch in advanced guys!

It's weird, there are so many people at this forum,
however, all the times which I have asked for help
or advice, no one has never bothered answering..

Hi ktadie,

Have you googled for nVidia 8600 forums + problems such as your freeze up related to the driver you installed.

If there is confirmation that the driver is at fault - how long did it take after installation before the freeze started to happen. You could always backout the new driver and reinstall the old one. Was the old driver acting up? If not, why did you install the new one? With regard to any driver, if it isn't broke don't try to fix it by upgrading it unless the upgrade carries a newly implemented feature for the hardware you have that has not been heretofore operational, otherwise, you probably don't need it.

Hi ktadie, I know only too well how you feel its happened to me countless times over the years and you get that feeling that your being ignored ...its not like that really, its probably because if no-one knows the answer to your query then you wont get an answer ...its more likely to happen if your query is an obscure one also, that is not an everyday fault so to speak ...Ive found that one of the best ways to find answers is to post a query in Google, although its not like a personal reply you can always find an answer eventually ....at least you have had an answer to this query as above ....dont lose heart

Perhaps it is because you posted in the wrong forum. This should be in the Windows Vista forum not software development: Clicky

As for your other question, I would probably go for the all-in-one package. Keep in mind that Im not a security expert though
