Abox.ocx & Windows 7
I support a database program that uses Abox.ocx as a control. When this program is installed to Windows 7 you cannot get past the initial screen of the program before a message that the Abox.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered, file is missing or invalid.
I have tried to research this file to see if it is compatible with Windows 7. I know it is was created by Finmar Software and I have sent them an email with no response yet. This file has not been updated in years so my suspicions are that it is no longer supported in this newer environment.
Does anyone know anything about this control?

My apologies if I am hitting up the wrong forum, but I thought if anyone would know....I would find them here

Thank you for any information!

I'm not familiar with Win7 but have you tried using
regsvr32 abox.ocx from a cmd prompt to register it?

What is this? -- A keylog op?

Not from a cmd prompt, but I have from Run. System has crashed due to another issue since I posted, so we are in the process of getting that back up and running. I will try registering that file through cmd prompt (didn't realize that would make a difference but can't hurt to try!)

Thank you

The reason I mention it (and the sorta link to malware) is that some security utilities (possibly also Microsoft) will set a killbit on some ocx's which have been associated with malware. It might be worth unregistering it with regsvr32 /u abox.ocx before registering it again (if this is the case). It's also possible that there are some runtimes required, or vba stuff needing to be installed which I'm not aware of. I don't have that one, to look at it's dependencies

Here's a killbit reference (in case that is the issue)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240797

Here's some vista support for the extended runtimes if they are missing
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957924/
but the basic runtimes for vb6 and the nature of the Win7 beast are unknown to me.

Can you be more specific about the message you get?

--- edit
I found a win7 table in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vbrun/ms788708.aspx

--- PS
no diff here between Run and Cmd -- I'm just a dinosaur, and think old
