asp page: submit sends external email
I have an ASP page that is a simple form that is supposed to send an email to users, both internal to our network or external. I can send the emails to the internal people, but not the external people. This is configured to use SMTP server on IIS to forward the mail out. It seems the email just gets lost no log can track where it was lost. any help?

I would need a tad more info, What ASP Componet are you using to send email, what kind of Email server do you have?

Now I going to take a guess at the problem.. The email server you have setup (the smtp server) can you send email to external people through it? It sounds like one of 2 things are going on. One the email server is set for only internal mail, or the full email address is not being sent to the email server (an email of Dalamar would work for the local server, but wouldnt for an external, you would need dalamar@Dalamar.org)

Good luck!

We are using MS Exchange 2000 as our email system. It appears that the ASP page is using the SMTP service on IIS. Is there something that I can check to see if it is sending the domain of the email also? Thanks

I personaly would go download aspemail (www.aspemail.com) and use that componet to send email. For the host use your Extange2000 server.

Also make sure your email server can send mail externaly

That sounds like what you'll need to do. I use ASPEMAIL and think it's great - it's free too!

But - if Exchange won't accept it, check that relaying mail in this manner is not some how turned off. I think by default it may be set to off so as to prevent spammers relaying mail...

Just my 2 pennies worth...[soon to be Euro's, probably]
