Cool New To Programming
I have limited programming experience Close to none. I would like to build a program where I could click on a icon, have it ask me for my input ,or a series of questions or options and give me an answer.Give me a a,b,c,d answer than move on to next question until enough input to give answer.
Example:
What kind of law
a Penal law
b civil
c traffic
d trucking Law
Section of law Input
221.05
Has he had any previous convictions
a yes
b no

Answer Fine of 250 - 500

I'm confused with what I should learn first.C+,Access,Excel
Is there a online site that works well with teaching and what do I start with?
I would be doing this on my own so I don't want to spend a small fortune but can spend some.
Thanks
Any help appreciated and I hope I'm in the right forum

Access and Excel are not programming. They have VBA which allows you to program in them, but only in VB which will generally teach you to program very badly.
C++ is programming, but it's probably not a good place to start, certainly not a good language to learn if you're just hacking your way to solutions - you should learn C++ as part of actual teaching of how to program.

Do you have any intention of progressing in programming, or is this just a single project you want to do? If the latter, something like Visual Basic would suffice, but it'll make progress more difficult than it needs to be.

Otherwise, I'd suggest something like PHP or Perl to create a web application, or Java and C# are quite popular for normal GUI apps.

Visual Basic is very well regarded among people who code in it. People who have used it and now use something else generally wish they hadn't.

Visual Basic makes it very easy to build simple programs for Windows, and if that's all you want to do it's probably about right. From what I gather there's plenty of good documentation on it, and most Windows forums are full of people advocating it.

Javascript is a programming language, but it's quite use-case specific, it's used mostly for client-side scripting in web pages. Java and JavaScript are entirely different.

Visual Basic is a real programming language, although there is wide debate over the language. If you are going to develop a program using Visual Basic, start by downloading Visual Basic Express 2008 from here. After you have downloaded & installed it, then you can start by creating small applications to help you get the hang of the language. After this you can start creating the aforementioned program.

JavaScript has never been a programming language. Java is, but JavaScript is a scripting language only.

(ugh, I hate Visual Basic, but good luck with it I suppose its fine if its for creating simple Windows programs.)

Charleylip, what languages do you know so far? If you know none, I suggest you start off easy. Such as HTML, even though it is a markup language and not a programming one, it's good to start easy on. Try CSS, JavaScript, or maybe even VB as well as RB. RB is REALbasic and is very great to use. I suggest you not try Java or C++ or even C unless you know something a little easier first. Although HTML and CSS aren't somewhat used for programs, it is still very good to start off with. I first learned HTML and CSS as well as JS here: http://w3schools.com/
