filename.mde is not a valid windows nt application!!??? Why?
I developed an Access 2000 application on Windows 2000. I then compiled it into an MDE. When I tried to deploy it on a machine with Windows NT and office 97, I got the following error:

"Myfilename.mde is not a valid windows nt application"

What can I do to make it run??

MDE files are dependant on the version of Access they were compiled from. If you compiled an Access 2000 mde you can't run it on Access 97 and vica versa.

So then what can I do? Does it mean that any app that has been developed i Access 2000 will never be deployed on a machine that has Access 97. What about if the machine does not end have MS Office?

Do you have any suggestions? Can I sue something other than an MDE file to make my app run?

Nope...you need Access on the PC you are running from the dme from. Make the mde from Access 97...either that or put Access 2K on the PC that will use your compiled mde.

A am sorry for being pesky(sp) about the whole thing. The problem is that mu customer is a branckh of the miltary and that branch is not yet ready of rAccess 2000. (They qre quite firm about it).

I have just tried to convert my Access 2000 app to Access 97 on my machine (that has Office 2000 and Windows 2000) as you guys suggested; so that I can compile an MDE in Access 97. But now I get the following message:

“Invalid field data type”

“Some errors happened during the conversation. No converted database is generated.”

I don’t even have a clue as to what that error is about.
