AboutBlank..REGEDIT,SafeMode,NotePad not working
I had this "About Blank problem a few weeks ago, It was fixed but now it's back even worse.

I can't run Regit or run in safe mode and Notepad won't run so I can't read the hiJack log. I attached the log but it had a .log extension so I changed to .txt so I could attach it here.

I unchecked a bunch of the ussual recomendations but it didn't help.

I installed APM but it won't run (illegal operation error)

It sure looks like the keep counteracting all the fixes people keep coming up with

Please hwlp

Where do I down load the new one from. mine is version 1.95. I can't even find Note pad on my system and there's no way I would have removed it.

I'm downloading one from here but the down load is hanging

Do a search for notepad.exe

If it can't be found, perhaps it was deleted.

Ok i downloaded and ran the new version (1.98), I can't read the file (because of Notepad) so I changed the extension and attached.

I already removed the About Blank references and Search references that I had removed previously, but I don't know what is preventing me from getting to the Registry. I also can't get to MS-Dos to run it either (by restarting)

Ok I also opened wordpad and read the file so here is the log:

Ok, that is as far as I can take it, we'll need to wait for one of the log gurus. If you don't have a response by tomorrow, post back to the thread here, I'll be notified and I'll round someone up.

Thanks for the help, I see your busy

I did some of the fixes I saw in the other posts, even though some of the names vary.

I need to get to the registry, but I've only ever used Regedit. There must be other ways?

Thanks

Click here to download a new copy of notepad.exe.

It is in a zipped folder so you will have to Unzip it to the C:\Windows folder.

Download StartDreck from: http://www.niksoft.at/_data/startdreck.zip

UnZip the startdreck.zip file first. DoubleClick: 'StartDreck.exe'
First click on the config button.
Now click the Unmark all button
Put a check by these boxes only:
*Registry->run keys
*Registry->Browser helper objects
*System/drivers> Running processes
hit >ok.

Now click the Save button to save that log.

Copy and Paste the contents of that log back here and await further instructions.
