Thumbs down Do Not Click on This.
Hello,

For those unfamiliar with the many products, masquerading as genuine spyware identifiers/blockers/removers, the following link will be informative:

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_...e.htm#products

The following is an extract from that site:

"Note: "Rogue/Suspect" means that these products are of unknown, questionable, or dubious value as anti-spyware protection."

The .GIF (appended) will not be unfamiliar to Forum members. It has been drawn to my attention that it is extremely probable this click-on scan is, in fact, one of the items referred to in the above link as a "Rogue/Suspect".

Thumbs down In the Same Family of "Don't Click on This".
Hello,

I have been waiting for the second (and so very similar) banner ad which has the same source as the one I first posted the image of. Here is the second one's image.

Whilst endorsing TechGuy's initiative to make possible a new server, and hopefully these two ads are lucrative, I believe we members have the right, and further, the responsibility, to point out that this no gain for our systems to be either test beds for a software producer whose present reputation is questionable (see the Rogue/Suspect handle given, in quote, to this particular product in my previous post - and in this thread) or to expose our more inexperienced members to the notion "if it's on TechGuyForum it must be OK". And who reads disclaimers?

A repeat of the link to the advising website cannot go amiss:

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_...e.htm#products

Here is the GIF

Exclamation No Credit to this Poster.
Hello,

I can take no credit for these posts (and they are the only posts to date on this matter) and I do not have, at this point, permission to make it known whose is the credit.

I feel strongly that the accumulating evidence points to a kernel of truth in the claims being made - claims which patently aim at discrediting the subject 'freeware'.

However I am able to quote my source:

"Below is a copy of the comment column of SpywareWarrior/Rogue posting about Spyware Stormer. Have you clicked on these links within the comments? They bring you to other sites that have done reviews on Spyware Stormer and all the reviews are very negative. Link 1 that is next to (aggressive advertising) brings you to CNET.com and shows reviews that were posted by people who got scammed by this bogus product. Link 3 is an interesting one also, it brings you to webhelper4u.com and they explain that Spyware Stormer comes from the country of Serbia and explains the whole scam behind this product..."

This is the comment column:

aggressive advertising (1, 2, 3); variant of NoSpyX & SpyVest (1); Ad-aware knockoff [A: 6-26-04 / U: 7-20-04]

this thread in the Forum of Spyware Warrior speaks volumes:

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=3023

Should this Forum be carrying this pervasive, intrusive and objectionable advertising? The source of which appears to be a tainted one and the likely aim of which suggests a callous indifference to the real needs of the majority of the Internet Community.

In the end one can only point and ask.

FYI, those aren't pop-ups... like so many ads on the Internet now, they're just designed to look like it (which I certainly don't agree with, but that's another matter). Anyway, I've been looking for this one for a few page loads now and haven't seen it yet. As soon as I find out which of our advertising agencies are sending it, I'll drop a request for them to remove it. We can't do that to every ad, obviously, but this one does seem a little extreme.

Thank you TechGuy

It does not happen every time I come to the site (before log in), but it happens at various times through the day, both with IE and Firefox.

FYI, I still haven't seen this one, but it was easily found listed in my BurstMedia site. I removed them from the rotation, but it may take a little while for that to take effect. Their campaign was scheduled to end on 8/31, though, so they may start another campaign next month. Just let me know if you see it again: techguy@cermak.com

Thanks.

So then this program is no good?
When I saw the banner on this forum I assumed it was okay.
Maybe this should be stickied for all to see?

I have been seeing these 2 Ad Banners quite frequently before this thread was started 10 days ago and since. I don't quite understand why no action has been taken to remove these and why no updates to this issue have not been posted since Aug 29th.

As mentioned by the previous post to this one, people will just assume the "Spyware Stormer" program which is linked to the 2 Ad Banners mentioned in Posts 1 + 3 is a legitimate program.

FYI this quote just tells us the Ad was removed from the BurstMedia site and still hasn't been seen here at the TSG site but we the members of TSG see the Ad all the time. Members unaware of this scamware program are remaining victims and are in line to spend $30.00 for a useless program that will install spyware/adware files on their systems.
