| Solved: Hijack this log...fixed items keep returning Hi.....I seem to have contracted a hijacker that just won't let go.....I have been searching through the post's here trying to find something similar to what I see in my Hijack log. I'm thinking it may be one of the CWS variant's, and I would really appreciate someone's help. I am being hit with pop up's and redirects like crazy and my homepage will not stay intact. I removed a buch of ...res://C:\WINDOWS\system\szwpv.dll/sp.html#12345 with Hijackthis, but they continue to return. This is completly new...O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [NTRU32.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NTRU32.EXE and I have no idea what it is. My tool bar changed on it's own, and notepad's disappear right before my eye's. Below is my Hijack log.....your help would be greatly appreciated.....thank's .....bob I'm running window's 98SE IE6 Norton Antivirus and I run adaware and spybot every couple of day's Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0 Scan saved at 3:34:14 PM, on 12/23/04 Platform: Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KERNEL32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mmtask.tsk C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYGATE\SYGATE PERSONAL FIREWALL\SPF9SVC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSTASK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\NTRU32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSTRAY.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STIMON.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT HARDWARE\MOUSE\POINT32.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\NORTON ANTIVIRUS\NAVAPW32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEBSHOTS\WEBSHOTSTRAY.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WMIEXE.EXE C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYGATE\SYGATE PERSONAL FIREWALL\SYSHIELD.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DDHELP.EXE C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\SPY BOT\HIJACK THIS 12-23-04\HIJACKTHIS.EXE R1 - See if control.exe is present in C:\windows\system If control.exe isn't there, Click here to download control_98.zip. Unzip the file and copy the new control.exe file to the C:\Windows\System folder. IMPORTANT!: Please check your ActiveX security settings. They may have been changed by this CWS variant to allow ALL ActiveX!! If they have been changed, reset your active x security settings in IE as recommended here.

| First I want to thank you both for your replies..... I followed your directions, flrman1 and that seems to have gotten it. I was pretty whipped yesterday, I work third shift, so I was up all night and then I was messing with this thing all day, so by 7, 8 o'clock last night I was done, so I missed your post then, but what I probably shouldn't have done was shut down. When I did the Hyjackthis scan in safe mode I had two new entries that were not there the day before. They were..... O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MFCIL.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MFCIL.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [JAVABQ.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\JAVABQ.EXE I left them but when I rebooted back to windows, I got an immediate hit from Venus Spy trap, that MFDnSC told me to download, telling me that CWS was on my machine. So I went through the whole process again, and checked both of these in Hyjackthis. I could not find "Delete Offline Content". I did three scans at TrendMicro. The first one had quite a few entries which I deleted, the second and third gave me this...two files both the same... JAVA BYTEVER.A NON CLEANABLE in C:\WINDOWS\Temporary interne.... I can't seem to find them in temp. int. files. Are these a problem? Below is the latest Hyjackthis log.... I rebooted just before I took this log.... I'd appreciate it if you could look at it, and let me know if there is anything, that I could or should get rid of.... | Yeah, certain CW variants can be difficult to get rid of, my brother had a bad one before. Just be paitient, and someone should get to you about that log. I can only do logs, if they come back, kinda not my ballpark. ![]() |

| If you fixed those and didn't delete the files then you need to do so. Delete these files: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MFCIL.EXE C:\WINDOWS\JAVABQ.EXE Run CWShredder and aboutbuster again then post another Hijack This log. |
