This will improve the speed & load time of firefox.
Type about:config in the address bar, Then look for the following entries, and make the corresponding changes. =32 =16 = 64 = 10 = true = 200 = 0 = true = 1.0
Lastly right-click anywhere and select New- Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.Enjoy!

Well, certain hosts may have problems with upping the number of connections, so this is not a universal solution.
