Angry cpu not running as fast as rated?
I installed a new motherboard(Gigabyte ga-7vrxp) and a new Amd athlon xp 2000 cpu. It shows the cpu running at only 1.3 when it is supposed to be 1.66.. Why is this doing that..

You may have to update the bios. Fortunately, Gibaybtye uses dual bios technology on their newer boards and supplies Windows application that should be on your intstall disk to update your bios to the internet. That's alot safer than flashing the bios. But even still, make sure you don't unplug the power chord when you update the bios.

If you've have a supporting bios. Then you may need to change the setting in JEN. By default, I think it's set to Jumper-free mode. Of course, check you documentations.

Don't update the BIOS yet

With my non Gigabyte mobo, if u change the processor, it always starts up with a kind of "failsafe" low FSB frequ of 100 Mhz, instead of the ideal 133, could this be the answer??

Idle guy may well be right, jus that a BIOS update sounds extreme on a new mobo......let me know how you get on
