How can I make cheap international calls?
I need to make calls to Israel and maybe Moscow once in a while, but I don't know what "10-10" number to use. AT&T and all those big companies charge like a dollar per minute, and that's too much. I used to pay like 14 cents/min. through a 10-10 number, but the company went out of business or something. And now I don't know what to use. I don't want to use phone cards though, because I don't want to pay before I try, because it might not be as good as it seems at first, but I would have already spent money. And I don't want to switch services or anything like that, I just want to make a straight call, no switching, that's why I need a "10-10" number. Thanks.

Thanks, but when I searched for "10-10 numbers", I got a site that lists 10-10 numbers that are cheap. I found Startec to be the best choice for me, at 14cents/min to Israel, it's 1010719. But there is a a 15 cents call fee, and I gotta check it out further.

phone cards
Have you checked out phone cards? In general phone cards have good rates, but for some reason certain cards have special rates to one country. A friend went off the Malyasia and gave us a card where the rates are about $.o5/min. Heard of similar bargins for China. Best place would be an emigre neighborhood.

what price paranoia?
Just out of curiousity I did a Google search for Isreal phone cards and found http://www.accessworldonline.com/results.asp which has a $10 card no fees 9 cents/min. You cite $.14 . Without going into the statistics the chance of you being cheated would have to be
(14-9)/14 or 36% for you not to profit by using the phone card

Thanks guys. You don't help me anymore, I only make these calls once in a while, so don't waste your time trying to save me a few pennies. I'm satisfied with what I have. Really, don't help me anymore. Thanks for all the help so far. Chao.

The least expensive way I have found to call domestically and internationally is AT&T prepaid phone card purchased at Sam's Club. I programmed my phone to automatically dial the access codes, etc. Service is excellent. Can be renewed automatically by phone. No need to keep buying cards with different account numbers. It's the only way I make long distance calls.

if you dont mind using a relay service (where you type whatever the operator must say to the person and the operator types back their responses to you) then use IP-RELAY its totally free and you can call anyhwere. www.ip-relay.com
