Stop Pop-Ups for FREE.
To Stop PopUps Follow these steps.

For MS Internet Explorer

1. Open your internet browser click on tools.
2. Click on Internet Options at the bottom of the menu.
3. Click on the Securety tab at the top of the box.
4. Click on the Restricted Sites Icon in window.
5. Click on the SITES button located below the Restricted Sites Icon.
6. In the window labeled "Add this Web site to the zone" type the name of the website where you want to block PopUps as follows:

Example: If you visit About.com often and you get a lot of popups,

In the "Add this Web site to the zone" window, type *.about.com.
Click the "ADD" button and your are done.

Good tip jlski.

This works just as well, and it is a lot eaiser, just two clicks.
It is called POW by AnalogX
A simple utility, just run POW! while browsing on the net, and when one of those nasty popups appears, POW! will automatically close it for you... It's that easy! And that's not all... You can configure POW! to close any new popups that you run across, so if it doesn't close them already, you can easily add/remove them at any time.
