manufacturers screen
Hello, I'm running Windows 98SE,

When i first turn on my computer the manufacturers screen appears and it's there for over a minute, is there a way to shorten the time it's there or to get rid of it all together?

Thank you

you can speed up your boot time by finding what programs are loading on startup and trimming the list down,EG:who needs windows media player on startup?

as for the logo.....
you mean the makers logo is there instead of the windows 98 logo?

my boot up is real fast, it's just the hold up when i turn on the computer - the makers logo stays on the screen longer than it takes for the whole boot up process to complete.

thank you

Try pushing the Esc key, that usually lets you see what is happeining in the background at the time. It may be a system check or an anti-virus scan.

Well this is something unrelated to your OS. You've to check for some settings in the BIOS may be to avoid that screen. I've never done that though and not sure about the exact setting.

But all I can tell is, its not OS related and you've to check your BIOS settings...

The screen isnt just sittin there, its doing stuff in the background. My gateway says "Press TAB to view system messages" and it shows the messages instead of that screen.

Thanks all,

one more question how do you bring up the Bios screen where you set a password before Windows boots.

Thank you

Getting into the BIOS is different for every computer, usually F1 or DEL key.
