Windows Logon
Hi. How do I make Windows 98 automatically log in a certain user, without showing the "window" with the different users? I mean, I created my own user account in Windows 98 so that I could log in and everything would look the way I want to, etc. And everyone else can do whatever they want. But I want the computer to log in the "user" automatically, without even showing up the window. And when I want to log in, I can simply log off, and log in as myself. So, can I do that? Thanks.

The easiest way is to create a new user with a blank password. After logging in once as this user, the logon screen will be skipped and you will automatically boot up as that user. To change users, you have to logout and login as another user (i.e. yourself).

I believe this can only be done using Client for Microsoft Networks as the primary logon (Network Properties).

If you have old users or want to start fresh, look for *.pwl files on your C: drive and delete them (or perhaps just keep your own).
