Unhappy Safe Mode
Due to various problems, I have been advised to start my Win Me in "Safe mode" and to fix the problems there. And I did so. I was very pleased to find out my problems had gone. But now, every time when I turn my computer on, I got a black screen with the following note:
".......Startup Menu:
Normal
Logged........
Safe Mode
Step by step...."
and every time I have to click on "Normal" to proceed with the starting process. This never before did happen to me.
How can I rid of fom this annoying phenomenon.
Please your help!

Welcome to TSG Daben!

Try going to Sart/Run and type in "msconfig" without the quotes.
Then click on Startup tab and see if it is set to Selective startup or Normal.

If it is selective, it may be that to get rid of old troubles it got set to that.

Let us know how it goes.

Depends on what you want it to do.

I have my Dad's ME set to ignore some unwanted, un-needed programs to not load at start up. So it says you are using selective startup.

If you want everything (e.g. Office toolbar etc to run) then you use normal.

Hope this helps

John

daben,

Looks like you want to get rid of the Startup Menu.

If so, in the 'General' tab of MSCONFIG, click the Advanced button and uncheck Enable Startup Menu.
