Arrow Poor mans HTML editor...
Most likely known by the legands of TGS... So sorry if this seems old hat...

I seen allot of posts asking where one can find a free HTML editor that is decent. Well... most people have one already and it's right under their nose. And it's in Outlook Express.

While in Outlook Express open a new e-mail. And look at the bottom of the e-mail for the tabs "Edit, Source, Preview" Don't see them there? Then at the top of the e-mail in the tool bar click "View" and then checkmark "Source Edit...". Now the tabs are there.
Now... Click the "Source" tab (this is where you write your HTML)... and erase all that you see there. Now in the same space you can write your HTML. Click the "Preview" tab to see how it looks and works... or if it does. If you click the "Edit" tab all of the synax errors will be corrected automatically. Can even be saved as a HTML document through "Save as..."

As an HTML editor this may not be the best bear in the woods... but it's not too bad considering it's free.

Very nice, I personally always just use NotePad. But seeing as you get the preview option in OE that sounds quite nice.

I want to warn you first Foamer that this is probably a stupid question....what are you changing the email to? If you can maybe change it so the font and size of the text is always the same let me know because no matter what I do I can't make the new message always type text the size I want,I have even posted here and we can't figure why when I save it to type text size 14 it always does 10. If I can change it here, could you tell me what I write in the box when I click on source in the new message and if so, does it do that for all future emails or just the one you edit?

Ok... Not really changing an e-mail so much as using it as an editor. In "Save as..." there are options to save the e-mail as either HTML document OR an e-mail document .eml . If for some reason you don't have the option to save as an HTML document... Save it as a text document and add the .html extension at the end of said file to be saved.

About your text always saving the same size 10...
Have you tried going to your Outlook toolbar... Clicking "Tools", "Options", the "Compose" tab? There you can change your default font.

When programming in HTML though... you must define every aspect of the font... otherwise it will retreat to the default settings.

For instance:
<FONT> is not enough...
<FONT size=4> will give you the font size change. Note that there is not a 14 or 10
in the size area. .
The size definition is different in HTML programming code.
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=red size=5>
is an expanded font aspect definition and will give you good
control over it's look.
Will look like this:

FONT

Hope this adressed what you were asking.
