posting images
I do not have a website, nor wish to have one, but I'd like to post a gif or jpg somewhere to use as an avatar.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where or how to do this?

Any help offered would be appreciated. :)

bluemoonz,

The first post in the link Dark Star gave, has the instuctions to post an image.

Here's a step-by-step:

1. Start a new post or reply to an existing post.

2. Just above the Submit, button you will see the Attach file: section. Click the Choose button and navigate to the location on your hard drive where you have the GIF or JPG file you want to post. Highlight the file and click Open, then submit your post.

3. At the bottom of the post you just submitted, you will see the word Attachment: followed by a link with the name of the GIF or JPG file you selected in the previous step. Click on the link and it will open a separate window showing just your image. Highlight the complete address in the address field of your browser and hit Ctrl-C on your keyboard. This will copy the address to the clipboard. Close the window to take you back to your post.

4. On the top right of your post, you will see four links: [report/ quote/ edit (#5)]. Click edit.

5. Add the following line to your original post:

<img src="paste URL you copied from step 3 here"&gt

and click the Save Changes button to resubmit your post.

Your image should now be displayed.

Sorry, you need 100 posts before you are a senior member and can have a custom avatar of your own. You can however use one of the hundreds of avatars that are available to you on this site. Click on the user panel and edit options, avatar to see whats available.

Ok. I tried this..it worked, but even though my pic did show up in the post, the attachment also showed up..*you will see below*. I tried deleting the attachment when I edited, and leaving just the line.

But that didn't work...so..here it is again.

You must attach the pic to show it in your post. When you delete the attachment, the file is removed from the server.
