Macros to save time
A macro records a sequence of events, from things that you type to performing certain functions, such as saving one file and opening another. After you record a macro, you assign it a key combination. Then, whenever you need to replay the steps in that macro, you press the key combination. It's that simple.

So let's say you want to record your canned client ending as a macro.

1. On the Tools menu in Word, point to Macro and then click Record New Macro. This displays the Record Macro dialog box.
2. Click the Keyboard icon. Here, you'll enter your key combination. Be careful here! Don't select CTRL+B, which bolds things, or any other common keyboard shortcut. I use CTL+ALT+ letter combinations.
3. Click Assign and Close. The Recording toolbar appears.
4. Perform the actions or type the text you want associated with this macro. When you're done, on the Recording toolbar, click Stop Recording.
5. Try it out! Press the keystroke combination you assigned to the macro and watch what happens. This is a real time-saver!

Can these be used in other programs? or just word? I've been looking for a quick way to reduce the size of my digital images for the web, maybe this is it.

Nope-these are Word-Only macros.
FYI-Word allows you to write macros in the VBA programming language which can do very complex stuff.
Most other word processors support macros as well-but you can ask Dreamboat about that

Fyzbo, if you are looking for something that can do a batch resize, then IrfanView has a Batch Conversion/Rename tool which can take all your photos, rename them in a sequential order, change them from one format to another, and resize them based on settings you input. It can do it all at once, or 1 at atime, or only 1 option, etc.

Open IrfanView click on File, and see Batch conversion/ Rename
