remember window view settings in XP
My desktop has a number of windows with icons arranged in my own selected order (i.e. not alphabetical, size, name or any other standard view). Normally when I log on they are displayed correctly but from time to time the system resets the view to alphabetical, meaning I have to rearrange them all over again.

I fixed this in W2K by setting everything as I wanted, closing each one (to write its settings to the registry) and then copying the entries for the following 2 keys into a separate file:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Stream s

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Stream MRU

Whenver the system destroyed my settings, I would close the windows, load the above into the registry, log off and log on again and all was right.

This does NOT work with XP! Can anyone tell me why? I even tried loading these keys into the registry and then killing power so nothing else got saved, but still no go. What else do I need to do?
