Disabling Messenger service (A different way??)
Most of us here know how to disable messenger from the services screen.I just read a new way.

Is it the same thing or more effective??Can anyone shed more light on this one please?

1. Login as an administrator first.

2. Go to "Run" and type "gpedit.msc."

3. Go to "User Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Components" > "Windows Messenger"

4. Double click on the "Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially" and "Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run"

5. Select "Enabled" for both

While this is perhaps "a different way", the real problem with messenger SPAM is the fact that you don't have a firewall. If you fix that problem, there is no need to disable messenger at all.
