Thumbs up Tip for people who use Lucent Win Modem
Well i noticed my internet speed was running really slow. I contacted MSN my ISP and we tried to trouble shoot.

Heres what they told me to do. I cant beleive just doing this increased my speed. This is for XP users only i believe.

Go to Control Panel/Phone and Modem Options. Click on the Modems Tab. Then highlight Lucent Win Modem. Then click properties. Click on the advanced tab and type this in.

AT&F+ms=v34

Thats all there is too it. If anyone wants to add to this or has any comments lemme know.

idontknowjak,

Not sure how this modem initialization string would speed up your connection.

It's designed to disable V.90 (56k) and force a V.34 (28.8k/33.6k) connection. In effect, it slows your modem down in order to create a more stable connection.

Usually, the best bet to get the highest speed from your modem is to have the latest drivers. If you don't already have the latest Lucent (LT) Win Modem driver (version 8.30), you can get it using the link below.

If you do update the driver, be sure to remove the initialization string.
