Question posting pics
Whats goin on TSG. Hope every1 is doin fine as for me I am constanly stumped on how to post a picture in a thread. I ve been successful on a couple of occassions but I must admit I was lucky. I can get as far as clicking on the IMG tab and then looking stupid. Ive tried to copy and paste but that doesnt work. Attaching a pic I can do..posting one thru the IMG I can not. Can sum1 share a tip as to how I can do this please.

click on the IMG button and paste the url of the picture in the box

Right click on the picture you want to post and click properties to view and copy the url
The url looks like this:
http://net4tv.com/voice/graphics/story/85_ps2_linux.jpg

copy it and paste it in the popup box after you press the IMG button and Walla!

Make sure the picture is on a server and not your hard drive.

Hi Sarge

I guess I do it the hard way. I'm behind a firewall and I don't see the 'IMG' button.
What I do is attach the pic to the post. When the resultant post comes back in my browser, I right click on the *.jpg(or whatever) and left click the 'properties' in the menu. A 'properties' window comes up and I 'copy' the 'url'.

Go back to your post and click edit. Paste into your post----(there is a bracket here also, but it screws with my example )IMG]copied url[/IMG] and the pic should show.

Click 'quote' on any post with a pic showing and you should see the formating

Luck

Jack

edit: can't spell, either

yes you can GaryR

POST AN IMAGE IN TSG

1. Start a new post or reply to an existing post.
2. Just above the submit button you will see the attach file section. Click the choose button and navigate to the location on your hard drive where you have the gif or jpeg file you want to post. Highlight the file and click open, then submit your post.
3. At the botton of the post you just submitted, you will see the word attachment, followed by a link with the name of the gif or jpeg file you selscted in the previous step. Click on the link and it will open a separate window showing just youe image. Highlight the complete address in the address field of your browser and hit ctrl-c on your keyboard. This will copy the address to the clipboard. Close the window to take you back to your post.
4. On the top right of your post, you will see four links, (report\ quote\ edit\ (#6). Click edit.
5. Add the following line to your original post?. you copied from step 3 here?> and click the save changes button to resubmit your post.
6. Your image should now be displayed.

Are you saying that your firewll prevents you from seeing the image button in the message window

by the way...I do it the same way as you...not bothering to use the img button...really all the button does is type the tags for you...you still have to copy the url first.

and as a note...when you right click the attachment just click copy shortcut...no need to click properties

Hi wanabe_buck

I do not see the 'img' button and a lot more from your screen shot.
My OS instal is 2 years old . I'm not really sure if it's the IE browser security settings, the firewall or a combination of the two that block. Whatever it is, Win 98se,for me, has been more durable than other's (IMO) and I'll keep the settings

Here's a screen shot of what I see:

Howdy Stoner

just out of curiosity what version of IE are you running 5.5 or 5.01

I have a machine with 98SE on it but don't use it much

If yours is working good... by all means don't change
