Some Fun and Interesting Photo Web Sites to Visit
One deeply etched memory I have of my childhood is looking through the amazing pictures found in Life Magazine while waiting for the doctor or dentist. I remember as a small child how big the magazine felt in my hands and how powerful the photos were to me. The phrase 'a picture is worth a thousand words' must have been born out of this magazine.

Today, we don't have to wait for a visit to the doctor or dentist to experience this kind of power. Instead, click to some of these sites that I have listed for you. I don't agree with and am sickened by some of the photos, but it depicts real life and they are powerful. And the photos do tell a story.

Life in America

America 24/7

Life Magazine's Classic Pictures

AphganPix.com

Dutch Photo Festival

Perros del Sur

Holding Ground Under Water

New York City Lightning

NOAA Photo Library

BBC Sport Galleries

Indivisible: Stories of American Community

Photo Tag

These are just a few of the hundreds of photo essays and compilations online. Use Google or Yahoo to search for more photo web sites. If you find any great ones you want to share with our listeners and web site visitors, please email them to us by clicking here and I will add them to this list.

One interesting and common trait of many of the best photos you see is that they are in black and white. Hmmm...keep that in mind the next time you are editing some of your own photos.
