Well I never.
Always wondered how to get those extra characters while typing a document or something else. Using XP.

Start>all programmes>accessories>system tools>character map. Select that unusual character, like theses for instance
" ¶ Ŧ Ǿ ط √ ♣ ♫ © ® " just copy and paste them.

in the bottom right hand corner of the character map, it will tell you the alt code, if there is a keystroke available for the character you want to copy. If you memorize a few of these alt codes, you wont have to open up the character map everytime.
