I have my choice of message saved to my desktop and I hear it when I test it. I sent myself an email to test it but I do not get the recorded message. What am I missing?? (in the same state that I usually am found.) TIA

Thanks "Virginian" and "Texan" for your messages. I did that when I first attempted to set it up but 'something' on my PC is not allowing the recording to take place when I get mail. And yes, I have my speakers on I have never had my system set up for any sound when I receive mail; nor other sounds.

Many thanks for your continued help Deke. Yes, I did hear the message I chose per your example of Sounds in the Control Panel.

That's it Deke!!! However, I was assuming that when the mail was received into OE I would hear the recorded message. That would alert me that I have mail and I could then go to OE and read it. Not so in my case. I only hear the message when I click on it to open. I think I was expecting far too much. I possibly have my OE5.5 set up a little differently than some people and that may have added to the problem.
BTW, I strongly suspect that I was not hearing the message before was because I was sending the email to my ISP web mail account. Don't think that will work!!
Nice program and I appreciate you posting it and then taking more of your time helping me.

Your OE would have to be opened and minimized to your taskbar or in your system trey which you really don't want.

Sometimes I leave my OE open and minimized with the volume up when I am not in my pc room when I am expecting something of importance.
